Marking Dedication May 6, 2019
The Robert Coe Chapter, Enid, OK placed a bench and held a Marking Dedication on May 6, 2019 at the historic site of the Humphrey Heritage Village of the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid, OK.
The Humphrey Heritage Village features four historically significant buildings: the only remaining U.S. Land Office from the 1893 land run; the 1896 Turkey Creek School; the first Episcopal Church built in 1902; and the 1905 Glidewell House. The schoolhouse is still used as a Living History Classroom for elementary students and the church is used for programs, weddings and lunches.
The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center is a historical museum telling the fascinating story of the settlement and development of Northwest Oklahoma, beginning with the Land Run of 1893.
